We have a...

healthy baby!!! Our ultrasound this morning went very well, and I think we got some pretty good pictures of the baby. Although, the baby might be shy. The ultrasound tech really had trouble getting pictures of the face without the arms covering it. I've struggled with Blogger quite a bit, but for some reason, it is flipping some of these pictures. You should be able to click on the picture and see a bigger shot.

Tomorrow

Our big ultrasound is tomorrow morning. We're very excited and are just praying for a healthy report. The little guy/girl will hopefully cooperate so that we can find out the sex. I bet JD that it was a girl, so we'll see. Madelyn wants a sister and Pierce wants a brother, so someone will be disappointed. With my first two, I truly had a strong desire for one or the other. Each time, I got what I wanted. This time, I really have no preference (not that it ever mattered what I wanted). I'll post how things went as soon as I can, but it probably won't be until early/mid-afternoon.

Have a great day! Hope I can sleep tonight!

More Friends

We had friends from Charlottesville come for the weekend. We had a great time catching up and watching their kids play with ours. JD and Larry celebrated the 2nd amendment by going to the DC gun show with Pierce, and Michelle and I kept the girls and enjoyed a morning at the park.

Here are a couple of shots of the girls:

Friends and the zoo

A great friend of mine is visiting from Oklahoma. She and I met because we started teaching at Madison Co. High School at the same time. Two years later, we both informed each other that we were expecting babies at the end of Feb. 2005. Her son was born a week before Madelyn. It's been over three years since we have seen each other, and we have each added to our families. Her husband is taking a class in the DC area, and they all came with him. It has been so great to catch up and see her kids. We went to the zoo this morning, and I think everyone had a great time. My kids are both sound asleep right now, so I know they did!

More Madelynisms

Our church has just begun a major construction project. A busy hallway through the church had to be closed, and there were people wearing construction hats all around the church on Sunday. These people were helping us get re-routed through the church. Madelyn asked JD--"Daddy, why are all these people wearing instruction hats?"

Madelyn's preschool is a co-op program, which means that parents help out at the school from time to time. Madelyn excitedly announced to JD this morning, "Daddy, Mommy is cooperating today!"--Maybe that is a change from other days.

Morning at the park

We are having a beautiful day here and decided to head to the park this morning to enjoy it. Madelyn rode her bike, at least some of the way. We took one of Madelyn's little friends with us. His family is moving from the area, and the movers were there today, so they came over to play for a bit.

Finally got going:

But there was also a lot of this:

Easter frocks

My beautiful kids on this Easter day:

I'm so thankful for the cross, but I'm even more thankful for the empty tomb! He is risen! Happy Easter, everyone!

Easter egg hunt

The original plan was to have an Easter egg hunt at a friend's parents' house. However, the torrential downpour yesterday caused the event to be moved indoors. Thanks to our host and hostess for providing lots of fun for our kids, and thanks to another friend for taking the pictures.

Flirting with spring

On Sunday, we had highs near 70. On Monday, it rained and was still pretty mild in the low 60's. Tuesday and today have been downright chilly. I'm glad we took advantage of the nice weather on Sunday. Here are some pictures of our afternoon:

Funny/Sweet things from this morning

We were visiting some friends and it finally stopped raining. We went outside and I immediately heard Madelyn say, "Hey, let's find some ants to stomp and kill."

While we were inside, the little boys we were visiting decided to have a "boxing match", where they were pretending to box each other. Madelyn was a little nervous about this, but Pierce seemed very interested. I told one of the boys that I would box with him, and I let him "knock me out." Pierce immediately burst into tears and started yelling, "No, Mommy! No, Mommy!" He was so concerned that I had really been hurt. It was really sweet, but I did feel bad for making him worry.

It's been a week

since my last post. That should tell you a bit about our lives right now--nothing much to report. Most of my time lately has been spent house hunting. We are looking for a new house (to rent), and it's been a bit more stressful than I had planned. While it's kinda fun to look at different houses and think about what you would do with them, once you decide on a house, you just want it to be over. We think we've found a house. We've been in touch with owner several times, and he's done the credit and employment checks. We're just waiting on the lease to sign. I do feel somewhat relieved, but I won't feel settled until the lease has been signed.

Other happenings include watching my growing belly bump. I can still fit into some of my pants, but I think that'll only last a week or two more. I go to the doctor next Thursday. JD is taking his annual camping trip with his cousins this weekend, so it'll just be me here for long weekend with the kids. Kinda dreading it, but he always has a really good time, so I'm glad he gets to go. Madelyn's spring break has started. She doesn't have school on Friday or any of next week.

And that's about it. Hopefully, things will spice up around here.
