Hurricane Sandy

We made it through the storm without any damage to our home or surrounding trees.  We have been without power for 23 hours and have no clue when we'll get it back.  I'm so thankful for our generator; we're able to get online, cook (sort of), and keep our cold food cold in the refrigerator.  I'd much rather have power, but all in all, things could be so much worse. The kids go back to school tomorrow; getting ready in the dark could be interesting.  Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers; keep praying for power restoration.

Kids Choir

We're getting ready for "Frankenstorm" around here; I really hate that name.  We spent much of the time yesterday putting things away, cleaning and tightening gutters, running around like crazy people trying to find gas cans (we bought a generator), etc.  I'm still praying for a miracle, that this storm will veer east instead of west.  Jesus can calm any storm, but He doesn't always calm them when and the way we want.

The kids were excited that the storm held off for today because they got to perform a song during church.  Madelyn and Pierce are both in the kids' choir this year.

Isabel is ready for the performance:

Here is a video of their performance.  Sorry it's shaky, and I cut off the last 3 seconds.

3 Months Old

Julia turned three months old on Thursday.  She is doing well; she smiles a lot; she sleeps well and a lot; when she's awake, she rarely cries or complains.  No stats updates since we haven't been to the doctor, but she's wearing mostly 3-6 month clothing as most of her 0-3 month clothes are snug or too short.  She seems to like sucking her right index finger, which seems kind of funny, but she's been pretty consistent with that.  She's rolled over a couple of times from her belly to her back but isn't doing it regularly.

A quarter of a year already gone...

Fall family retreat

Last weekend we ventured down I-95 for a visit with JD's family at the farm.  The kids had Columbus Day off, so we were able to enjoy the long weekend there.  After an incredibly exhausting trip down 95-took us 3 hours to get from our house to Fredericksburg-we all had a good time.  On Saturday, everyone except Julia and me went to Busch Gardens. On Sunday, we went to church, then a baby shower for my sister-in-law, and finished off the day with a bonfire complete with hot dog roasting and s'mores making.

I didn't take my camera, which is a bummer, but JD took a couple of pictures with his phone.

So, apparently if she gets up at 5:30 am, doesn't take a nap, and plays hard all day, she will sleep in the car:
