Julia was one month old on Saturday. Yes, it's true. It goes by so fast, and I'm trying to enjoy it and soak as much of it up as I can. She went to the doctor today, and after dropping down to 8 lbs, 14 oz, at her two week check up, she is back up to 10 lbs., 2 oz. This puts her at 77%. She is 23 inches long-100%. I expect her percentiles to lower throughout her first year. I may produce large newborns, but they don't stay large for long. She's trying to find her fingers or thumb but doesn't quite have the control she needs to consistently get them in her mouth. She's focusing more, and I've seen the promises of a smile quite a bit and few purposeful grins (at least I think she was glad to see me), but no consistent big grins yet. She's napping pretty well now, and sleeping pretty well at night, too. Most nights, she settles down easily around the same time as the other kids 7:30ish and wakes up once sometime between 2:00-3:00. She then usually sleeps until 6:00 or 7:00. If she wakes at 6:00, I put her back to bed for an hour or so, but if she wakes at 7:00, I start our day then. I think she would go back to sleep, but once school starts, we have to start our day then anyway. We might as well get in the habit now.
She continues to be a pretty easy going baby. The loudest we've heard her cry was for about two seconds when my cold hands picked her up to put her in the bath tub. She was extremely unhappy about that and let out the funniest sounding scream. She calmed down once she was in the warm bath water.
I took these pictures on Saturday. Happy one month, Julia!

Julia may or may not be the most beautiful grandchild ever, but I am certain she is in the top 4.
