Our second day in New York was spent at the Children's Museum of Manhattan and a birthday party of the child of a former co-worker of JD's. Comparatively, it was a low-key day. The museum was fun, and it had something for all of the kids. The first floor was the most educational and the one Madelyn and I enjoyed the most. It was full of displays of our different body systems and how they all work together and it focused on good health/healthy eating.
You could sort vegetables and slide down a long yellow slide:
Or learn about your digestive system:
Or learn about what keeps a heart healthy:Or about how your taste buds and saliva start the whole digestive process:
The upper floors were much more elementary, and there was a Dora The Explorer floor, where Isabel got frustrated when the phone wouldn't work:
No, Isabel, it's pretend. It's supposed to be fun:

After the museum, we went to Artie's Deli and enjoyed pretty good food-cheeseburgers, omelets, and hot dogs. We went back to the hotel for rest time, and then we headed to Hoboken, NJ for the birthday party. We walked, cabbed and trained on the way there. The party was at a little gym type of place, and the kids had a really good time. JD's co-worker's in-laws were there. They lived in Kingsport, TN (very close to my hometown) and worked for the same company my parents did/do work for, so it was nice to have a little taste of home. They are also Hokies, so they had a few good things going for them. We walked, trained, and cabbed back to the hotel and went to bed.
